Dear Delaware Valley HIMSS Chapter Members,
It is with incredible excitement and a deep sense of responsibility that I welcome you to a new year as President of the Delaware Valley Chapter of HIMSS. Over the next 12 months, I am excited to lead our chapter in advancing our mission through several key pillars including community engagement, networking, professional development, advocacy, and diversity.
As we look ahead, we must also acknowledge the formidable challenges facing our industry. From workforce shortages and clinician burnout to cybersecurity threats and financial pressures our industry is navigating a time of profound transformation. These challenges demand not only resilience but also innovation, collaboration, and advocacy.
This year we will deepen our community engagement by fostering stronger connections with local healthcare organizations, academic institutions, and public health leaders. Through networking opportunities, we aim to create spaces—both virtual and in-person—where members can share ideas, build relationships, and spark innovation. Our commitment to professional development will be reflected in a robust calendar of events, workshops, and mentorship opportunities designed to empower members at every stage of their careers. Our upcoming Fall Conference in Atlantic City (November 4th-6th), our Winter Holiday Networking event in December and our Luncheon at the HIMSS Global Conference in March are just a few of the fantastic programs we have planned this year. We will also amplify our voice in advocacy, championing policies that support health IT innovation, patient safety, and access to care. Finally, we will continue to prioritize health equity, ensuring that our chapter reflects the rich perspectives and experiences of the communities we serve.
For the 2025-26 board year, I’m honored to welcome in two new board members – Tam Nguyen and Cole Lyons. Tam and Cole are welcome additions to our 14 returning board members and play a key role in helping us achieve our chapter’s goals. I’d like to also highlight the committees that we recently formed to help accomplish what I’ve outlined above:
-
- Advocacy (Co-Chairs – Dr. David Scher and Gemma Lowery)
- Membership (Chair – Scott Engelman)
- Scholarship (Chair – Samir Mehta)
- Communications (Co-Chairs -Matt Guldin and Gayle Stidsen-Smith)
- Programs (Co-Chairs – Gayle Stidsen-Smith and Frank Sites)
- Sponsorship (Chair – Nadine Opstbaum)

Thank you for your continued support and commitment. I look forward to an inspiring and impactful year together. If you are interested in getting more involved with our organization – be that volunteering, sponsoring, sharing feedback or otherwise – we would love to hear from you (info@dvhimss.org)!
Here’s to a great year ahead!
