Meet Zobia
Growing up, I always knew I wanted to pursue a career in healthcare, but it wasn’t until I started college that I discovered how deeply I was drawn to the intersection of medicine, research, and technology. As a student in the accelerated Physician-Scientist program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, I’ve had the chance to explore that intersection through hands-on research, from working with brain organoids to simulating neuroimaging data using Mesh-based Monte Carlo methods.
What drives me most is the potential to make healthcare more equitable and accessible, especially for underserved communities. Over the years, I’ve founded a HOSA chapter, hosted Red Cross blood drives, coordinated medical fundraisers, and volunteered in hospitals to support patient care firsthand. Each experience has shaped my commitment to using health information technology to break barriers in care. I’m honored to be this year’s DVHIMSS Scholar and excited to contribute to a field that continues to evolve and inspire me.
