A practicing pediatrician and clinical informaticist, he leads large-scale programs in clinical AI, pediatric telehealth, electronic consults, remote patient monitoring, and clinical decision support – with a focus on improving care quality, advancing research, and reducing clinician burden. ย Lee A. Fleisher, MD, ML is Founding Principal and CEO of Rubrum Advising and Emeritus Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care. From 2004 through July 2020, he was the Robert D. Dripps Professor and Chair of Anesthesiology and Critical Care and Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania where he oversaw the delivery of anesthesia care, critical care, and pain management. He is also a Senior Advisor to the Bipartisan Policy Council and Visiting Fellow of the Duke-Margolis Center for Health Policy, Senior Advisor for FasterCures at the Milken Institute, a member of the Health IT Advisory Committee (HITAC) of the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) and the AHA Patient Safety Initiative.. He was the former Chief Medical Officer and Director of the Center for Clinical Standards and Quality at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) from 2020-2023. In his CMS role, Dr. Fleisher was responsible for executing all national clinical, quality, and safety standards for healthcare facilities and providers, as well as establishing coverage determinations for items and services that improve health outcomes for Medicare beneficiaries. Dr. Fleisher has received numerous honors including being elected to membership of the National Academy of Medicine (formerly Institute of Medicine) of the National Academy of Sciences in 2007 and serves on multiple Committees including the Board on Health Care Services. He received the Distinguished Alumni Award from SUNY in 2011. He received the Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016. Prior to joining Cooper, Mr. Hufford served as chief information officer at Memorial Health Care System, a community hospital in North Western Ohio.ย After Memorial Health Care was acquired by Promedica Health system, he served as assistant vice president of Revenue Cycle and Business Systems where he oversaw the implementation of Promedica Healthโs electronic health records system.ย He has experience leading large teams within several areas of IT including clinical, revenue cycle, business systems, and technology.ย In addition to his experience working with health care providers, he has a background in consulting work where he executed IT strategic planning engagements, merger and acquisition evaluations, and post-merger integrations. Since 2015, Mr. Hufford has led IT through several large scale implementations including telemedicine, revenue cycle and clinical optimizations, and the migration to cloud-based services. He is now leading a digital transformation initiative with the goal of providing excellent digital experiences for employees, providers, and patients.
