Gemma Lowery, Technology Manager, Digital Solutions
ChristianaCare Center for Virtual Health
Gemma Lowery is the Technology Manager of Digital Solutions for ChristianaCare’s Center for Virtual Health. She also serves as a member of multiple committees for the Delaware Telehealth Coalition and acts as an Advisory Board member of the Mid-Atlantic Telehealth Resource Center (MATRC). She is a board member of Delaware Valley HIMSS and works with the local American College of Health Executives planning committee. Prior to her current role, she was the eICU Operations Coordinator for the health system. In 2016, after assisting in the creation of the eICU module, Ms. Lowery was one of the inaugural students to complete the Certified Advanced Telehealth Coordinator course offered by the University of Delaware. Gemma is now the course instructor and UD telehealth director. She is an alumnus of University of Delaware for her undergraduate studies and holds a Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Healthcare Administration from Wilmington University. Gemma believes that telehealth and virtual tools provide methods of delivering healthcare to patients that can help expand access to care and equalize current healthcare disparities.
Current projects:
• expanding utilization of remote patient monitoring tools to allow for more proactive monitoring and reductions in escalations of chronic care conditions
• exploring the many options for care that Hospital at Home and Virtualist Nursing bring to the healthcare landscape
• augmenting virtual patient visits with assistive technology devices
• investigating new systemwide platforms to allow for a more connected model of care for patients and providers
• developing a new virtual training course for a California training center
• consulting on legislative action around new PA telehealth bills
• mentoring new start-up companies based in the US and other countries on how to successfully work with hospital systems and solve for real problems
